Please provide a detailed description of your software is and does? WHMSonic is a popular radio control panel as a plugin to WHM/cPanel, intended on making your life easier. It can be installed on a WHM/cPanel server with single SSH command and will let you to provide fully radio hosting services + unique amazing features for you and for your clients.
Tell us how and why your company got started? We were in there, the time when IRC(Internet Relay Chat) was popular in 2003-2005 before facebook and whatsapp. We were in development of IRC control panel in the first place, however after interest on radio streaming by the public, we are moved to radio services since 2006. It was always a question by WHM/cPanel users about radio managements. We were also an hosting/server provider in 2000 and each of the developer here are expert of Linux + WHM/cPanel, we wanted to make radio services easier to setup and manage on WHM/cPanel servers for the hosting community.
How do you see internet radio services having changed over the years? To be honest, it is not changed as expected. At least our expectations. However, there were some 3rd-party improvements such as HTML5 players and we made flashplayer to be able to play AAC+ streams for the first time without any server requirements. Recently IOS and Android started to support internet radios however, many of the encoders are a problem for browsers except Google Chrome today. We expect all browsers to support AAC+ encoders to imporove internet radios today. This will change the game a lot, the sound quality will be better than MP3 radios. In this technology age, I think we all deserv that quality.
In your mind what makes your company different from the competition? WHMSonic is unique to WHM/cPanel, we never look from that competition perspective. We are different, because we were there, we were a hosting/server provider in the late 2000, we’re technical experts and we do understand what people needs in this business. The most important part of our job is to develop “what people needs and suggests”. So from the beginning, we do follow suggests of our customers and we do follow their requests with a simple rule, make it easier. “Things can be enjoyable when they are easy but powerful”, thats a word on the wall of our development room.
What insights into internet radio would you like to share with us? People often ask why WHMSonic software has too much text instead of images ? Isnt easy to put some pictures instead of writing and making languages ? Let me tell you a story as a head developer, in 2010. It was a very normal day in the office and we were reading our emails with all other team members. We have received a new email with the subject of “I cannot Read”. I remember that day as today now, a person who is blind asking for help to make the software text based and easier, so that he can use our software and work as an employee to FM radios and play music from his house that can help to earn some money and look after his doughter. That day, we read the email and stop for a minute and looked eachother for a minute as we were in shock but we had to do something. On that day, we changed whole software completely, wrote as many texts as much and we found the program that blind people use, it reads texts and changes to voices and we have tested it with WHMSonic. We had to re-write whole software from the beginning, today that person has a job, he streams music from his computer by using WHMSonic just with a text to voice program without seing anything else in this world but earns his money. Thats the point to be a developer, you must have an heart as well, not only knowledge. Today we support many disabled organizations and we do donate even with cheap prices we provide.
What direction do you see your software taking in future? WHMSonic will always be improved by professionals, we will always be there to improve and provide what technology allows us to do as best as we can. We will continue to keep our free automated updates and support.
What makes you passionate about internet radio services in general? We couldnt live without music, news and broadcasts today and internet may not be like todays without radios. It is one of the way of communication between people even soul. The idea is to make it easier, is to let everyone have an internet radio and stream whatever they like, its been always to make use of internet radios easier. Creating/managing an internet radio would be a pain without shoutcast control panel software today.
