Jazz & Classic American Music from the ’40s, ’50s and ’60s.

EuropaRadioRazz The Sound Of Jazz and 88.3 SmoothJazz are two online radio stations bringing you the best of jazz performances and coverage of current jazz events, and including live shows and recordings from some of the great interpreters of The Great American Songbook.

EuropaRadioJazz is a non-profit organization aimed at providing you with musical and cultural information relevant to jazz. We are keen to share with you our archives of some tens of thousands of hours of some of the best jazz music ever, including many original recordings which have never before been heard, many of which from the archives of EuropaRadio Milano FM 88.3 (Milan, Italy)

EuropaRadioJazz is the first (and so far only) jazz radio broadcasting digitally in FLAC (lossless) format, giving audiophile the best possible audio quality.

Europa Jazz Radio was established in 1976, and since 1980, headed by Sergio Leotta and Elda Botta has been broadcasting over FM and now on the web.

Evolving over the years, Europa Jazz Radio has come to form its own precise identity and can be distinguished from other channels. Europa Radio is specialised in jazz, with programmes changing on a daily basis, including the greatest American music of the 40s, 50s and 60s. We feel we must make selections based on the quality of sound and musicianship, in contrast with many channels today which offer much of the same, over and over again. We like to think that our listeners are as passionate about music as we are and will appreciate our desire to establish an exclusive radio station. It’s our way of making contact with like-minded people, of different nationalities whom, we hope, can become a constant audience over time.

Over the years Europa Jazz Radio has accumulated over 15.000 hours of music and much of it unpublished and of historical interest. In the hands of Elda Botta and Sergio Leotta, Europa Jazz Radio has many hours of live recordings of musicians and vocalists from the international jazz scene, not to mention various jazz critics and other specialists in the field of jazz.

Rather than making random selections of music for our programmes, a careful mix is put together which may sometimes include different versions of the same numbers. We like to think we offer programmes which are pleasing to the ear whilst stimulating the interest of our listeners and, above all, not interrupted by advertising.
We love it and we hope you do too.

Happy listening.

Sergio Leotta
