Hardcore Radio Stations

Hardcore is a term that is generally associated with a variety of electronic dance music (edm) genres. It is however also associated with other genres such as punk rock and forms of heavy metal. In its use within edm, the term is used in reference to hardcore techno which is a more extreme form of techno which emerged in the 1990s from europe in the netherlands (sometimes referred to as gabber). It is also used in reference to breakbeat hardcore which emerged in the uk from acid house and breakbeat. The term hardcore is still often used to describe more extreme / underground styles in a variety of musical genres. Hardcore, formerly called hardcore techno, is a subgenre of electronic dance music that originated in the Netherlands from the emergent raves/gabber in the 1990s. Its subgenres are usually distinguished from other electronic dance music genres by faster tempos (160 to 200 BPM or more), the intensity of the kicks and the synthesized bass (in some subgenres), the rhythm and the atmosphere of the themes (sometimes violent), the usage of saturation and experimentation close to that of industrial dance music.
